<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device in which cleaning of a fixing member is efficiently carried out and which can suppress generation of an abnormal image, even when a lower limit fixing temperature is lowered using low-temperature fixable toner. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 25 comprises the fixing member 260 which comes in contact with unfixed toner on a recording member and rotates while heating the toner; a pressure applying member 270 which comes in pressure contact with the fixing member 260 and rotates; a temperature sensing means 280 to sense the temperature of the fixing member 260; and a cleaning member 291 for cleaning a surface of the fixing member 260, wherein a counting means 412 to integrate fixing job operations is disposed and the cleaning member 291 is controlled on the driving so that a fresh cleaning face is supplied to the fixing member 260 every time the integrated value of the counting means 412 attains to a previously set reference value. In addition, the cleaning member 291 is controlled so that a fresh cleaning face is supplied to the fixing member 260 according to the sensed value of the temperature sensing means 280. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
