WATER-SEALING MATERIAL FOR CABLE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible water-sealing material for a cable having a 2 layered structure, exerting excellent water-sealing performance regardless of the size of an optical fiber cable, and having no trouble of causing powder-dropping phenomenon.

SOLUTION: This water-sealing material for the cable has the 2 layered structure wherein a water absorbing resin composition layer containing highly water-absorbing polymer particles and an organic binder in one side of a sheet base material as essential ingredients.For the sheet base material, a nonwoven fabric comprising blended fibers of a main fiber of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and an auxiliary low-melting polyester fiber having a fusing point lower than the PET of the main fiber by 20°C or more is used. Its blend ratio is 50 to 80 wt.% of the main fiber and 20 to 50 wt.% of the auxiliary fiber. The blended fibers are heat sealed together mainly by the softening melting of the auxiliary fiber.
