<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for diagnosing failure of a vehicle capable of identifying an failed actuator for intake air quantity control. <P>SOLUTION: In an intake air quantity control system 1 controlling exhaust gas recirculation quantity by an EGR control valve 7 and controlling fresh air quantity by a turbo actuator 18, a target value and an actual value of intake air quantity of the intake air quantity control system 1 are compared with determine existence of irregularity of intake air control (step 51), when it is determined that irregularity of intake air quantity control exist, the EGR control valve 7 and the turbo actuator 18 are independently operated (step 57, 66), and the system detects whether or not intake air quantity changes in correspondence to the operation (step 59, 68) to identify the failed intake air control actuator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
