<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for inspecting a surface defect of steel capable of inspecting precisely the surface defect of steel, in particular, the surface defect in an edge part (angled part) of the steel, irrespective of a slight displacement in the edge part. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for inspecting the surface defect of the steel, a slitlike beam L is emitted inclinedly to the steel W angled part by the inspection device K for inspecting the surface defect of the steel provided with an irradiation means 1 for irradiating the steel W angled part inclinedly with the slitlike beam L, an imaging means 2 for imaging a light orbit M formed in the steel W angled part by the beam L, an output means 4 and a controller 3, so as to be imaged by the imaging means 2, and a picked-up image is analyzed with pattern matching or the like by the controller 3 to determine the presence of the surface defect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
