<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method for moving image information capable of attaining the power consumption reduction of an integrated circuit and high-speed processing in image processing and ensuring high image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The signal processing method processes the moving image information to be provided for motion compensation prediction to a reference macro block located for reference in a current frame image and a first collation macro block in a search area selected in a preceding frame image, and the sum of difference absolute values between corresponding pixels in macro blocks is found for all the pixels in the macro blocks. The sum of the difference absolute values is compared with the sum of difference absolute values of a second collation macro block, the smaller sum of difference absolute values is defined as the minimum sum of difference absolute values, and such comparison is continued. When the number of times that replacing does not continuously occur reaches the predetermined number of times, the step of detecting the minimum sum of differential absolute values is forcibly terminated, and the minimum sum of differential absolute values obtained just before the ending step is defined as the final minimum sum of differential absolute values. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
