<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut down the quantity of image data recorded without considering the correlation in the time direction in the archive or the transmission of the data without causing the deterioration from initial recording time. <P>SOLUTION: Image frames are divided in small process units on their bit strings such as video slices or blocks, and the difference between the frames is measured in this unit to reduce entropy. The process unit is not rigorously synchronized with the spatial position of an original image and hence the difference is taken after shifting the bits by a fixed quantity as well as at the same position of a previous frame to obtain more small entropy. If the correlation between the image frames is low, the correlation in the image frame is utilized. The identifications in the frame and between frames and the coding of the bit shift value and the difference data are executed to attain an additional compression. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
