PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily match shift operating direction to a feeling of a driver which is different for every driver. SOLUTION: The shift operating device 100 is comprised of a shift gate having a predefined shape, P range, R range, N range, D range, and M range provided on the shift gate 110, a rail 130 provided on the side of the M range, a slide cover 120 slidable in the width direction of the vehicle on the rail 130, and a display part corresponding to an upshift side and a downshift side selectively defined whether it is recognized or not by a driver by the slide cover 120.
