A power control circuit (116) is used to control the power supplied to a circuit (112) from a power source (114). The power control circuit (116) is operable to connect and disconnect the power source (114) from the circuit (112). The power control circuit (116) connects the power source (114) to the circuit (112) in response to an externally applied magnetic field detected by a passive RF-tag.
