PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to match easily a direction of a picture with a direction of character information such as date in the way the user intends to do.

SOLUTION: In print outputting an electronic image signal obtained by photographing with a digital camera DC to recording paper visibly by having a sensor for sensing the direction of the digital camera DC, font data to be read out from a font data storage part 201 are selected appropriately by changing the direction of the digital camera DC in accordance with the direction of an image to be print outputted which is displayed to a display 208 of the digital camera DC. Thus, the character information such as the date can be easily printed out to the recording paper at a position or in the direction that it looks natural and is easily read as the user has intended to.
