<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostriction element capable of functioning without providing a biased magnetic field generation source, and to provide its production method. <P>SOLUTION: The production method is provided with: a compacting stage wherein raw material metal powder having a composition expressed by the general formula of Tb<SB>x</SB>Dy<SB>1-x</SB>Fe<SB>y</SB>(wherein, x and y each denote an atomic ratio, and 0.34≤x≤1.00 and 1.50≤y≤2.30 are satisfied) is compacted into a predetermined shape in a magnetic field; a sintering stage wherein the compact obtained in the compacting stage is sintered; and a magnetizing stage wherein the sintered compact obtained in the sintering stage is subjected to a magnetizing treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
