<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate keeping a change of transmissivity and a degree of polarization caused by heat and humidity small and excellent in durability, and also to provide a liquid crystal display device having high display quality without causing trouble such as rise of the transmissivity of an entire screen and frame-shaped light leakage in black display. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate is set so that the water-vapor permeability of a 1st protection film 34 is lower than that of a 2nd protection film 35 on a liquid crystal cell side in the polarizing plates 30 and 31 constituted by laminating the 1st protection film 34, a polarizer 33 and the 2nd protection film 35 in this order.
