TIRE HAVING OVERLAY FOR SUPPRESSING NOISE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a noise generation of a pneumatic radial tire. SOLUTION: The belt structure of the tire is reinforced by a plurality of cords elongating circumferentially in parallel with each other, and has an overlay ply 18 having the width W between both ends in the lateral direction. The overlay ply 18 has the pattern of cutting-off portions 22 arranged in each segment. Each segment has repeated patterns of the cutting-off portions arranged in six rows. Each cutting-off portion 22 is separated from the cutting-off portion of the neighboring row by at least 100 mm, and is laterally shifted from the neighboring cutting-off portion by at least 3 mm. The shifted distance is smaller than the width of the cutting-off portion. The length L of the overlay cord in each row is 200 to 500 mm. The ratio of the interval of the cutting-off portions in each row to the circumference of the tire is 8 to 30%.
