PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear medical imaging apparatus capable of enhancing the quality of images by shielding and preventingγrays coming from outside a visual field from entering, and capable of inspecting a person to be inspected safely. SOLUTION: The person 1 to be inspected is made to lie on a top plate 4, and are irradiated with positron emitting-type RIs. A top plate drive 8 is operated through the use of a controller 9 from a console 10, and the person 1 is conveyed into the center tunnel of the gantry 6. In directions in 180 degrees from RIs inside a visual field of photographing with respect to the person 1,γrays impinge a facing detecting section 2 (scintillator 2a, light guide 2b, and photomultiplier 2c). Theγrays emitted then from the RIs inside the visual field, are shielded with a plurality of flexibleγ-ray shields 14 provided in a shield stand 3, and do not impinge the scintillator 2a. An output signal from the detecting section 2 is processed by an incident position data processing section 11, image reconstruction is performed in an image construction section 12, and an RI distribution image inside the body of the person 1 is clearly displayed in an image display section 13.
