PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for letting out a cord of a bush cutter, preventing dust, soil, mowed grass or the like from invading into a reel from outside, enabling the operation for letting out the cord, the operation for storing the cord, and the driving of the bush cutter itself to be smoothly carried out, hardly causing trouble, facilitating maintenance and check, and enabling rapid and precise operation for inserting and connecting the cord to be carried out, and winding operation to be carried out by dividing the cord to two layers; and to provide a method for arranging the cord in the device for letting out the cord. SOLUTION: The device for letting out the cord has a pressurizing part 14 urged by a spring 15 and protruded from an exterior case 5 downward, a reel member 12 divided by a divider part 12c to two layers of cord-winding parts 13a and 13b and integrally formed with the pressurizing part 14, an engaging structure 22 transmitting or releasing the rotation of the exterior case, and a stepping structure 25 for rotating the reel member in the loosing direction when the pressurizing part is lifted. Cord-insertion holes 11 are formed in the outer periphery of the exterior case so as to face to each other, and cord-guiding holes 18a and 18b present at the vicinity of the cord-insertion holes and having a dividing-guiding means 17 are formed on one nearly straight line in the diameter direction I of the pressurizing part.
