<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth-transition metal-nitrogen magnetic powder which hardly adheres together even when the ground slurry of the magnetic powder is heated and dried out after rare earth-transition metal-nitrogen magnetic coarse powder is ground, or after the surface of the magnetic powder is coated with a phosphoric acid film or the like when the magnetic coarse powder is ground down; and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The rare earth-transition metal-nitrogen magnetic power manufacturing method comprises processes of atomizing the rare earth-transition metal-nitrogen magnetic alloy coarse powder in the presence of a solvent, supplying the obtained ground slurry containing magnetic alloy fine powder to an atomizer which rotates at a peripheral speed of 30 m/sec or above, and spraying the slurry in a flow of air heated at a temperature of 130 to 300°C to dry it out. The rare earth-transition metal-nitrogen magnetic powder is manufactured through the above method, has a cumulative volume percentage particle diameter D<SB>50</SB>of 1 to 5 μm, and has a cumulative volume percentage particle diameter (D<SB>20</SB>-D<SB>70</SB>) width of 5 μm or below. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
