<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a write-once type optical recording medium of a diffusion system which has a simpler structure and is inexpensive. <P>SOLUTION: The write once type optical recording medium of the diffusion system performing recording and reproduction of information by irradiation with a light beam is provided with a first layer containing a transition metal element and a second layer provided in contact with a light beam incident side of the first layer and containing an element 2B.
