PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably stratify gas in a combustion chamber in a terminal stage of a compression stroke. SOLUTION: A partition wall 36 is provided in order to partition a swirl upstream side intake port 16 into a region 2 on a cylinder 10 peripheral wall side and a swirl upstream side and a region 3 on a cylinder 10 central side and a swirl downstream side. The concentration of a predetermined ingredient in the gas sucked into the cylinder 10 from the region 2 is made thicker than the concentration of the predetermined ingredient in the gas sucked into the cylinder 10 from the region 3 and the gas sucked into the cylinder 10 from a swirl downstream side suction port 18, and thereby a degree of stratification regarding the predetermined ingredient in the gas in the combustion chamber can be improved in the terminal stage of the compression stroke.
