PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric antenna which has a high gain and a wide main beam width, and is easy to manufacture, and is easy to miniaturize and is inexpensive. SOLUTION: The dielectric antenna of the present invention includes a pillar-shaped dielectric section for radiating electromagnetic waves which are fed thereto. The dielectric section includes a recessed portion in the upper portion thereof. The vertical cross section of the recessed portion has a shape such that the height of the dielectric section gradually increases as going toward the side surface of the dielectric section. For example, the recessed portion is a notch 31 having a V-shaped vertical cross section. Alternatively, the recessed portion includes a flat surface portion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
