PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform a detection of a video signal converted from film and a conversion processing when the video signal is film signal. SOLUTION: This video signal processing method comprises: a first selection processing for obtaining signals of four horizontal lines of a first, a second, a third and a fourth mutually delayed by every horizontal scanning period from the inputted video signal and selectively replacing the signal of the fourth horizontal line with the signal of the second horizontal line; a second selection processing for selectively replacing the signal of the second horizontal line with the signal of the fourth horizontal line; a timing matching processing for matching the signals of the four horizontal lines each other; a determination processing for comparing the signals of the four horizontal lines matching in the timing and determining whether or not a fixed pattern corresponding to the film signal is detected; and a control processing for controlling the first selection processing and the second selection processing based on the determination processing.
