PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone exchange apparatus superior in maintainability which performs communication connection, utilizing a public network and can utilize the number plans of a dedicated line (dedicated line). SOLUTION: When the telephone 102 of a telephone exchange apparatus 101 calls the telephone 202 of a telephone exchange apparatus 201, a dial based on the number plans of the dedicated line is converted into a public network subscriber number by a number-conversion table 106, and the number is transmitted. After automatically answering an incoming call from the public network, the apparatus 201 transmits and receives audible sound signals by audible sound signal transmitting units 107, 207 and audible sound signal receiving units 108, 208 so as to receive information for specifying the extension of an opposite party.
