PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismically strengthening device for an opening section, according to which right and left base members are connected to right and left mounting members by braces, respectively, and the mounting members and the base members are fixed to each other in a laterally adjustable manner, to thereby lead to the following advantages: ordinarily required locational adjustment of horizontal members in a framework structure is dispensed with and mounting locations of the braces on right and left columns are easily adjusted by adjusting the fixing locations of the mounting members to the base members even if a lateral interval between the right and left columns is slightly varied; and workability of the device is improved because the members are fixed to each other only by using securing tools. SOLUTION: The seismically strengthening device is formed of the right and left base members 3, 3 fixed to the right and left columns 2, 2, the right and left mounting members 4, 4 fixed to the right and left base members 3, 3, and the braces 5 arranged crosswise between the right and left columns 2, 2. Each brace 5 has its edges fixed to the right and left mounting members 4, 4 by securing tools 72 arranged across the inside and outside of a room, and one of the braces 5 is fixed to another brace 5 at an intersection by a securing tool 73 arranged across the inside and outside of the room, followed by forming a take-in slot 41 in the mounting member 4 so as to open to the laterally adjacent base member 3, whereby one side of the base member 3 is accommodated in the slot. Further the base member 3 and the mounting member 4 define a laterally adjusting space therebetween, and the locationally adjusted mounting member 4 and the base member 3 are fixed to each other by a securing tool 71 arranged across the inside and outside of the room, whereby the right and left base members 3, 3 are connected to the right and left mounting members 4, 4 only by the braces 5, 5, etc, respectively.
