The present invention relates to a method of determining a dose of radiation applied to a frozen material comprising the steps of: (a) irradiating a frozen material in a container; (b) determining an applied dose of radiation applied to a specific location on the exterior of the container; and (c) determining an absorbed dose of radiation for the frozen material within the container in accordance with predetermined data relating to the container.
