Radial piston pump has array of pistons in cylinders with profiled fluid inlet windows

A radial piston pump has a case with a radial array of cylinders and pistons, each coupled to an eccentric pivot. During the suction stroke the piston draws fluid through a window in the cylinder wall. During the power stroke the fluid is delivered to a collecting chamber. The suction window geometry is such that, during the piston (3) power stroke, there is reduced increase in pressure gradient in the cylinder (2).
