PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery and a battery pack having high safety even in excessive voltage charging or the like. SOLUTION: In this secondary battery 3a with a power generation element housed in an armoring case 15, a temperature protection element 7a electrically connected to a collector of the power generation element is installed in the armoring case 15. To the protection element 7a, lead electrodes 8a and 9a each formed of an aluminum metal plate or the like without dissolving in an electrolyte are attached. By wrapping and sealing the protection element 7a with an armoring film 23a, dissolution of the protection element 7a by the electrolyte 20 can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
