<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a performance reproducing apparatus and the like capable of imparting in real time the nuance relating to the sound producing time length of musical sounds such as staccato and tenuto. <P>SOLUTION: A function for controlling the sound producing time length of the musical sounds is assigned to the prescribed key of the performance reproducing apparatus. The CPU of the performance reproducing apparatus determines the ratio of the key on time Ton occupied in one Beatcycle (=the key off time Toff+the key on time Ton) based on the key operation signal of the key assigned with such function and determines a sound producing ratio (=the sound producing time length before the nuance control/the sound producing time length after the nuance control) from the determined nuance ratio.
