PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine which can quickly stop the diarrhea itself especially caused by an enteric infection. SOLUTION: This diarrhea remedy contains a hydroxyalkylcysteine compound represented by the general formula : HO-A-S-CH2-CH(NH2)-COOH (I) (A is an alkylene group) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt as an active ingredient.
