WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating composition excellent in adhesion to a substrate and coating stability and capable of forming a flexible coating film exhibiting excellent vibration-damping tendency over a wide temperature range and high in chipping resistance. SOLUTION: The water-based coating composition contains polymeric composite microparticles dispersed in an aqueous medium. In this coating composition, each of the polymeric composite microparticles is composed of at least one layer of core and a sheath as the outermost layer, wherein the glass transition temperature(Tgc) of a copolymer constituting the core is≤30°C and the glass transition temperature(Tgs) of a copolymer constituting the sheath is higher than the Tgc.
