<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which impact force is relieved by reducing the speed at which a development unit is inserted. <P>SOLUTION: The protective cover 112 of a drum unit 110 is urged to turn in such a direction as to cover a photoreceptor drum 111. The drum unit 110 includes a cushioning means 130 that transmits repulsive force in a direction opposite to the direction in which the development unit 120 is inserted in the main body 101 of the image forming apparatus. In the cushioning means 130, one end of a coil spring 132 is fixed to the drum unit 110, and the other end is fixed to a pressing-force transmission lever 131 slidably supported by the drum unit 110. According as the development unit 120 is inserted, the pressing-force transmission lever 131 is moved to open the protective cover 112. Since the repulsive force of the coil spring 132 is transmitted to the development unit 120, impact force transmitted to the drum unit 110 due to the insertion of the development unit 120 is relieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
