PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply indirect thermal processing to an organic water-containing substance to be treated while suppressing the scattering of moisture and almost uniformizing a shape such as a size. SOLUTION: The substance to be processed charged in a hopper 63 is guided to a guide route 71 having a slit 71a formed thereto. Further, a rotary shaft 72a of a cutting means 64 is revolved at a constant speed to allow rotary blades 73 to pass through the slit 71a so as to traverse the guide route 71 at every constant time. By this constitution, the substance to be processed is cut intermittently. Thereafter, the cut substance to be processed is introduced into a drying oven or a carbonization furnace to be subjected to indirect thermal processing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
