PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with a compressor whose operation is controlled in accordance with a temperature change of a refrigerating room, having reduced power consumption. SOLUTION: The refrigerator comprises the refrigerating room 9 and a freezing room 10, a temperature sensor 11 arranged in the refrigerating room 10, the compressor 2 to be operated/stopped in accordance with a temperature detected by the temperature sensor 11, an operation timer 14 for starting integration each time when the compressor 2 is started, a stop timer 15 for starting integration each time when the compressor 2 is stopped, and a refrigerating room heater 5 for internally heating the refrigerating room during stopping the compressor 2. When the operation factor of the compressor calculated from an elapsed time for the operation timer 14 or the stop timer 15 is a preset rate, a current is prevented from flowing in the refrigerating room heater 5. When the operation factor of the compressor 2 is higher as ambient temperature is higher, the refrigerating room 9 and the freezing room 10 are put into temperature controlled conditions with no current flowing in the refrigerating room heater 5, thus reducing power consumption at high ambient temperature.
