The method involves simulating a process that produces slivers using a heated rotating specimen body (25) that is subjected to the cooling lubricant and measuring the effects of the cooling lubricant, especially in relation to the cooling effect of the cooling lubricant and/or the passage of parts of the cooling lubricant into the atmosphere. The cooling lubricant is applied to the specimen body using a nozzle. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing the inventive method.
