The device for the sound insulation between an engine compartment (3) and passenger compartment of a motor vehicle with cockpit module (8) installed inside the passenger compartment and connected to an end wall (4). The cockpit module has a sound absorption element (15) and extends over almost the whole of the cockpit module side facing the end wall. An opening (10) formed in the end wall is bounded by an encompassing flange (11) upon which lies a heater (12) which is a component part of the cockpit module.
