An apparatus and method for fractionating plaster slurry, reliably controlling the density of plaster slurry (fractionated slurry) fractionated from a mixer, and capable of preventing the flow of the fractionated slurry from varying and reducing foams or the consumption amount of a foaming agent. A fractionation apparatus (30) fractionates plaster slurry from a mixer (4) for mixing casting plaster and water. The mixer has a hollow connection portion (50) for allowing plaster slurry to outflow to a chute portion (5) from a mixing region in the mixer, and the chute portion (5) for discharging the inflowed plaster slurry on a plasterboard base paper through a slurry discharge opening. The fractionation apparatus has a slurry fractionation opening (33) opened at the chute portion or at the hollow connection portion, and the apparatus sends out part of the plaster slurry within the chute portion or hollow connection portion to slurry send-out tubes (11, 13, 19).
