<p>An image pickup device and method capable of supplying image data of an appropriate data amount to another device. When the maximum transfer rate of a PDA (91) is 1.5 Mbps, a mobile telephone (1) judges that the maximum communication speed with the PDA (91) is slow, controls to reduce the data amount of moving picture data acquired in a CCD, and supplies the acquired moving picture data to the PDA (91). The PDA (91) displays a low-quality moving picture (93) on its display section. Moreover, when the maximum transfer rate of the PDA (91) is 480 Mbps, a CPU controls not to reduce the data amount of the moving picture data acquired into the CCD and the acquired moving picture data is supplied to the PDA (91). The PDA (91) displays a high-quality moving picture (94) on the display section. The present invention can be applied to a digital camera.</p> |
