<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the attitude of an imaging apparatus, and simplify a processing by selecting an optimum filter processing for extracting feature information of a subject on the basis of the detected result. <P>SOLUTION: While a shutter button is half-depressed, it is determined whether or not the image sensing apparatus is performing landscape image sensing or portrait image sensing on the basis of attitude information obtained from an attitude sensor (S105). Then on the basis of the result of the determination, one of two filter processes in different scan directions is performed, thereby a person's face in an image is detected. Then image sensing conditions at the next timing are determined on the basis of the area of the person's face in the sensed image. When the shutter button is full-depressed, image sensing is performed in accordance with the latest image sensing conditions, and a resultant image is stored in a storage medium such as a memory card. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
