METHOD FOR PRODUCING FORMIC ACID ESTER AND METHANOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a formic acid ester and methanol, having an advantage of the reaction performed in a super critical phase, capable of performing an operation in a high conversion rate and without progressing side reactions at ≤240°C low temperature, since the solvent in the supercritical state shows a catalytic activity.

SOLUTION: This method for producing the formic acid ester and methanol by performing the reaction of a raw material gas containing carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide or both and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst is provided by including an alcohol exhibiting a catalytic activity in the solvent and performing the reaction in a condition so that the alcohol becomes the supercritical fluid.
