PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize smooth assist driving in an air assist bicycle. SOLUTION: A chain 10 is wound between a driving sprocket 8 integral with a pedal crank 7 and a driven sprocket 12 of a rear wheel 6 to constitute a main transmission mechanism 13. Human power driving is carried out. An auxiliary driving belt 15 is wound between an air motor 14 and the pedal crank 7 to form an auxiliary transmission mechanism 16 and assist driving is carried out. Compression air in a vehicle body frame 1 is fed to an air motor 14 through an air valve 17 and the air valve 17 is interlocked with a tensioner 18 provided for the chain 10 to carry out opening/closing.
