PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness tester for performing a more precise hardness test by reducing measurement errors due to an influence of disturbance vibration, without furnishing complex mechanisms. SOLUTION: In a support section 5, as an indentor shaft 4 travels toward a sample S, the spring shape of a first elastic section (for example, a middle plate spring section 53) approaches a straight shape from a deflected state, and the spring shape of a second elastic section (for example, an outer plate spring section 54) approaches a straight shape from a deflected state. When the indentor 3 reaches a sample surface, the first and second elastic sections are extended nearly in a straight shape, in a direction vertical with respect to the axial direction of the indentor shaft.
