PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transforming Compositae plants for efficiently producing transformants in a variety of the plants. SOLUTION: The method for transforming a Compositae plant comprises the step(a) of preculturing tissue pieces of the Compositae plant in a phytohormone-containing medium, the step(b) of dispersing the resultant tissue pieces together with whisker in a liquid and sticking the whisker onto the tissue pieces by centrifugal treatment, the step(c) of damaging the tissue pieces stuck with the whisker by ultrasonic treatment, the step(d) of coculturing the resultant tissue pieces and Agrobacterium bacteria having an extraneous gene, and the step(e) of reproducing the objective transformed plant by culturing the tissue pieces thus cocultured.
