<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security management method for a document for surely keeping security of a document file at a system BIOS level. <P>SOLUTION: In this security management method for a document, the document file is divided into an ordinary document part arranged in an ordinary area of a RAM and an SMRAM document part arranged in an SMRAM area of the memory when the document file is loaded to the RAM. A document edition application recognizes whether the document file to be processed is the ordinary document part or the SMRAM document part, and then, generates an SMI to access the SMRAM document part via an SMRAM function in the system BIOS for performing document processing on the SMRAM document part.
