<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which enhances a downward angle view contrast ratio of the liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes a liquid crystal display panel 210, a backlight light source 202, and a black layer 208. The liquid crystal display panel 210 has an upper polarizing plate 212, a liquid crystal layer 214 and a lower polarizing plate 216, with the two polarizing plates having wide view compensation films 308. A beam from the backlight light source 202 sequentially transmits through the lower polarizing plate 216, the liquid crystal layer 214 and the upper polarizing plate 212 and reaches a viewer. The black layer 208 is located between the backlight light source 202 and the viewer and decreases dark-state brightness of the liquid crystal display to enhance the downward angle view contrast ratio of the liquid crystal display to ≥10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
