<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a support from a recording material, wherein a coating film is formed on the support using a natural or synthetic polymer binder, in a state usable as a raw material of the support for the recording material. <P>SOLUTION: The recording material, wherein at least one coating film is provided on the polyester resin support, is treated with an alkaline treatment liquid and the coating film is peeled from the polyester resin support to recover the polyester resin support.
