IMPACT PROTECTIVE DEVICE FOR HARD DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact protective device which can reduce the effect of the change in the impact absorbing material over aging and its protection capability changing when in operation and not in operation and retract the head by detecting a sign of a head slap. SOLUTION: This is an impact protective device to protect a hard disk drive (1)from an impact applied from the outside. The microgravity sensor (5) detects whether the hard disk drive (1) is in a zero gravity state or not and generates a microgravity detection signal (Sul). The head slap sign detector (4) outputs a signal (Sul) to the disk drive to retract the head following the microgravity detection signal(Sul) when the hard drive disk (1) is considered to be in a microgravity.
