PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce a switching power to a non-braking state. SOLUTION: An eddy current type reduction gear includes a brake disk 2 mounted on a rotary shaft 1, a holding member 6 mounted on a non-rotary part contained in a guide cylinder 3 disposed oppositely to the brake surface 2a of the brake disk 2 and movable in a brake surface direction, and a plurality of permanent magnets 7 provided on the opposed surface of this holding member 6 to the brake surface 2a opposed at a pole surface to the brake surface 2a and alternately disposed at different adjacent poles. The holding member 6 is provided tiltably to the brake disk 2 at a tilting fulcrum movable at a predetermined distance in a rotary shaft direction as a fulcrum. During non-braking, the holding member 6 is tilted to the brake disk 2 at the tilting fulcrum as the fulcrum, and then separated from the brake disk 2 together with the tilting fulcrum side. Thus, the number and size of actuators can be reduced, and a size of a device can be reduced and a weight can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
