摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer material having an excellent optical and mechanical properties by a ring-opening metathesis polymerization of a norbornene derivative containing a functional group. SOLUTION: The norbornene polymer is a derivative of a norbornene monomer having a halogen group capable of inducing a radical polymerization at its terminal and is produced by a ring opening metathesis polymerization of the monomer using a Ru-carbon-olefin coordination catalyst; äCl<SB>2</SB>Ru(CHPh)[P(C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>11</SB>)<SB>3</SB>]<SB>2</SB>}, and the norbornene polymer having at its terminal a group which can induce a radical polymerization is used for synthesizing the macromonomer.
