PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, which can perform reconnection by the communication specifications compatible with host equipment by simple processing when being connected by the communication specifications that are not compatible with the host equipment, thereby functioning as slave equipment. SOLUTION: The apparatus is configured such that, when a response is not received within a specified time period (S43) after having transmitted a descriptor to the connected host equipment (S42), notification is made by display that there is a highly possible state where correct connection is not performed, and instruction items for shifting to the setting screen of the communication specifications are displayed simultaneously (S45). In the apparatus, a switch on a line for supplying a pull-up voltage to a data line D+ is turned off to pull down (S48) when the instruction items are selected. When the communication specification is selected on the setting screen, the switch is turned on to pull up the data line D+ (S52) after having renewed the descriptor depending on the selection (S51).
