1,099,541. Granulating machines. A. G. BUSS. Jan. 5, 1965, No. 355/65. Heading B5A. In a granulating machine in which strands of plastic material are extruded through an extruder 3 and are cut by a revolving knife 6 into granules, a receptacle is provided in the form of a stationary upper portion 7 and a movable lower portion 10 secured in a predetermined position relative to the upper portion. As shown the lower portion 10 is adjustable between the positions shown in broken lines, interengaging flanges being provided on the portions and a locking screw being provided on one portion. The position of lower portion is chosen dependent on the speed of the knife. In modifications the interengaging plane between the portions is inclined, Fig. 1a (not shown), the interengaging surfaces between the portions are spherical, Figs. 2 and 2a (not shown), the surfaces are curved so that the lower portion can swing, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the lower portion has a loose pendular connection with the upper portion, a bellowslike seal being provided therebetween, Fig. 5 (not shown).
|
