PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of the problems in an optical isolator, such as falling off of optical elements, development of cracks, degradation in the joint strength and deterioration in the optical characteristics. SOLUTION: In the optical isolator, in which an optical element including a Faraday rotator and a polarizer and a magnet are integrated on the top surface of a planar mounting substrate via adhesive, the region is separated into one where the adhesive joins the optical element on the top surface of the mounting substrate and the region where adhesive joins to the magnet.
