<p>A hyperlipemia and/or hyperalbuminemia model animal that is useful for the development of a preventive/therapeutic agent for hyperlipemia and hyperalbuminemia, especially showing the onset of hyperlipemia and hyperalbuminemia at the stage of senility (aging) (in the case of human, middle-aged and elderly). A hyperlipemia and/or hyperalbuminemia model animal is obtained by breeding a transgenic rat (homozygous rat) having a regucalcin gene introduced therein and capable of overexpression of regucalcin until the stage of senility (aging) at which the symptoms of hyperlipemia and/or hyperalbuminemia occur, for example, 36 weeks old. This model animal exhibits not only significant and marked increase of serum albumin, HDL cholesterol and triglyceride concentration but also osteopathy.</p> |
