<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling a diesel engine which has a turbo charging means and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) means, monitoring a flow sensor while improving the reliability of a flow rate measured value without basically adding hardware. <P>SOLUTION: The output of an atmospheric pressure sensor provided in a control circuit, the output of an air pressure sensor provided in an intake manifold of the diesel engine and the output of a rotor rotation sensor for the turbo charging means are loaded for computing the function of an intake amount.
